Johannes Wennecker the Elder
Johannes Wennecker the Elder OSA, also Johannes von Meppen the Elder . Ä. , († 1472 or 1469 ) was an Augustinian monk , auxiliary bishop in Münster and titular bishop of Larissa in Syria .
Wennecker was a member of the Augustinian order. It is said that he studied in Erfurt and Bologna and received his doctorate. He is said to have belonged to the monastery of this order in Osnabrück and later to have been prior and also to have taught. In 1453 he owned a house in the parish of St. Aegidi in Münster. In 1454 or 1458 Wennecker was appointed auxiliary bishop in Münster and titular bishop of Larissa in Syria .
