John of you
Johannes von Euch (born January 21, 1834 in Meppen ; † March 18, 1922 ) was Bishop and Apostolic Vicar of Denmark .
John of you is a descendant of the Huguenot family of the Barons De Vous. His father had settled in Meppen in the Emsland in 1831 and ran a pub there. John studied theology and was Paul Melchers for ordained priests . Since the then Nordic Vicariate was administered from the Diocese of Osnabrück , he worked in Denmark. As pastor of Fredericia , he became Apostolic Prefect of Denmark in 1884 . With the elevation of the prefecture to the Apostolic Vicariate he was ordained on March 15, 1892 titular Bishop of Anastasiopolis and Apostolic Vicar of Denmark and on September 8, 1892 by Bernhard Höting as bishop . He was a great organizer, and his tenure was a time of change, when the number of Catholics in Denmark rose from 3,000 to 25,000 through immigration and even more through conversions .
