John Clements

Sir John Selby Clements CBE (born April 25, 1910 in London , † April 6, 1988 in Brighton ) was a British actor , theater director and film and theater producer .

Life

Sir John Clements was a successful stage actor who at times even ran his own theater in London and repeatedly took on management duties in the theater sector. He was married to actress Kay Hammond. As a film actor, he appeared from 1934. He also had the greatest international success with four feathers. Clements often worked with the director Alexander Korda , but set the focus of his acting work in the theater and had only a few appearances in film from the beginning of the 50s. Clements was raised to the nobility in 1968. He is the stepfather of the actor John Standing .

From 1966 to 1973 he was artistic director ( general manager and multiple director ) of the Chichester Festival Theater.
