John Davidson Clark

John Davidson Clark (born September 26, 1884 in Fort Collins , Colorado , † November 6, 1961 in Cheyenne , Wyoming ) was an American economist and politician of the Democratic Party , who among other things was President of the American Finance Association in 1943 and between 1956 and 1953 was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers .

Life

After attending school, Clark first began an undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska , from which he graduated in 1905 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A postgraduate studies of law at the Law School (Law School) of Columbia University , he finished 1907 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), and then began working as a lawyer in Cheyenne on. In 1919 he became a board member of the American National Bank of Cheyenne and was a member of this until 1946. He was also a board member of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana from 1923 to 1926 . In 1931 he earned a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D. ) with a dissertation entitled The federal trust policy from Johns Hopkins University . He also earned a Doctorate in Law (LL.D.) from the University of Nebraska Law School in 1938 .

Clark, who was a member of the Democratic Party , was elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives in 1941 . In 1943 he became president of the American Finance Association for one year . In 1946 he was appointed to the Council of Economic Advisers , an advisory body to the President of the United States . He was a member of this until 1953.
