John Hoge Dendahl (* 28. September 1938 in Santa Fe ; † 9. November 2013 in Denver , Colorado ) was an American politician of the Republican and columnist . In the 1960s, he was one of the top Nordic skiers in the United States.

John Dendahl studied at the University of Colorado and started for the university's ski team, with which he won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title in 1959 . In 1960 he won the NCAA Nordic combined title . He also qualified for the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , where he started alongside Mack Miller , Karl Bohlin and Peter Lahdenpera in the cross-country relay, which reached eleventh place.

From 1988 to 1990 Dendahl was Minister for Economic Development and Tourism in the US state of New Mexico . Dendahl served as chairman of his state's Republican Party from 1994 to 2003. In 1994, his application struck for candidacy for governor in the primaries failed his party. He ran again in 2006 for this office and this time was also set up by the Republicans, but lost with only 32 percent of the vote against the Democratic incumbent Bill Richardson .
