John Edmondson (born February 3, 1933 in Toledo , Ohio - † December 30, 2016 ) was an American composer .

He completed his studies at the University of Florida in 1955 with a Bachelor of Art and at the University of Kentucky in 1960 with a Master of Music in composition , where he studied with Kenneth Wright and R. Bernard Fitzgerald . He then taught music at the Kentucky Academy for 10 years. Just like Paul Yoder , his main interest was the college wind orchestras, for which he wrote educational works.

He also played as a solo trumpeter and pianist at various concerts. He spent the next 10 years in Miami Beach , Florida , as the editor of school orchestral literature. Together with Paul Yoder , he also wrote the Fun-Way Band Method and distributed it through the publisher for which he was responsible. He then moved to Wisconsin , where he was also responsible for the Concert Band Publications of a major US music publisher.

He was married to the composer and flautist Anne McGinty and lived with her in Scottsdale , Arizona , where both worked as freelance composers and arrangers .
