Henry began his artistic career as a painter in the 1970s. He later created some of the largest steel sculptures (up to 30 m high) in the United States. He designs and makes all of his sculptures in his studio in Chattanooga. He is currently welding steel girders in such a way that the viewer has the impression that they are weightless. Sometimes, as in the works Symphony in Red (2000) in Hanover or Fulcrum (2001) in Eschborn, the steel beams, like Mikado sticks, appear frozen at the moment of their fall.
