John Howship

John Howship (* 1781 ; † January 22, 1841 ) was an English physician , surgeon and pathological anatomist .

Life

John Howship was an English surgeon. He was a member of the Council of Surgeons and a lecturer at St George's Hospital Medical School in London . As a surgeon and pathological anatomist, Howship was primarily active in the field of bone research.

In 1833 he held the Hunterian Oration of the Royal College of Surgeons of England .

John Howship was a Fellow of the Royal Society and was born on November 28, 1824 with the academic surname Troy under matriculation no. In 1285 admitted to the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina .

According to him, are Howship lacunae , surface bulges in the bone matrix , where the remodeling of bone takes place, and together with the German internists, neurologists and neuro pathologist Moritz Heinrich Romberg the Howship Romberg Syndrome named (obturator neuralgia).
