John Landsteiner (born May 19, 1990 in Mankato ) is an American curler . He currently plays as a lead on John Shuster's team .

Career

Landsteiner began his international career at the 2011 Junior World Championship as a substitute for Aaron Ward's team . The team finished sixth.

In 2014 he took part as lead in the US team led by John Shuster at the  Winter Olympics  in  Sochi  , where he finished ninth.

At his first  World Cup in 2015  , he played as a  lead  in Shuster's US team and came in fifth. The  following year he  came in third place with the American team around Shuster. In the game for third place, the Americans defeated Japan with Skip  Yūsuke Morozumi . At the  2017 World Cup  , he returned to the game for third place, but lost to the Swiss team around  Peter de Cruz .

At the US Championships, he won the gold medal in 2015 and 2017, the silver medal in 2016 and the bronze medal in 2013 and 2012.

Landsteiner won the American Olympic Team Trials  with John Shuster's team in November 2017  and took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics  in  Pyeongchang for the USA with Shuster,  Tyler George  (third) and Matt Hamilton (second)  . After five wins and four defeats in the round robin , the Americans moved into the final round. In the semifinals they defeated Canada with Skip Kevin Koe . In the final they beat Sweden with Skip Niklas Edin 10: 7 and won the gold medal.

Private life

Landsteiner is married and works as a project engineer.
