Matthew "Matt" Hamilton (born February 19, 1989 in Madison ) is an American curler . He currently plays second in John Shuster's team .

Hamilton began his international career at the 2008 Junior World Championship , where he played as a lead in Chris Plys' team and won the gold medal. At the Junior World Championships in 2009 he was able to achieve a place on the podium again with the bronze medal.

At his first World Cup in 2015 , he played second in the team led by John Shuster and came in fifth. The following year he came in third place with the American team around Shuster. In the game for third place, the Americans defeated Japan with Skip Yūsuke Morozumi . At the 2017 World Cup , he returned to the game for third place, but lost to the Swiss team around Peter de Cruz .

At the US Championships, he won gold medals in 2015 and 2017, and silver medals in 2014 (with Skip Craig Brown ) and 2016.

Hamilton won the American Olympic Team Trials  with John Shuster's team in November 2017  and will  participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics  in  Pyeongchang for the USA with Shuster, Tyler George  (third) and John Landsteiner (lead)  . In December 2017, he and his sister Becca Hamilton also won the  Olympic Team Trials for the mixed doubles competition, which was an Olympic discipline for the first time in 2018. The two finished in Pyeongchang after two wins and five losses in the Round Robin in seventh place. After the positive doping results from Alexander Kruschelnizki and the disqualification of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team , they moved up to sixth place. At the men's tournament he won the gold medal with the team led by John Shuster. After five wins and four defeats in the round robin, the Americans moved into the final round. In the semifinals they defeated Canada with Skip Kevin Koe and in the final they beat Sweden with Skip Niklas Edin 10: 7.
