John Lynch (born November 1, 1843 in Providence , Rhode Island , †  August 17, 1910 in Atlantic City , New Jersey ) was an American politician . Between 1887 and 1889 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1856, John Lynch and his parents came to Wilkes-Barre , Pennsylvania, where he attended public schools. He also graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston . He first worked on a farm and in the coal mines in the region. At times he also taught as a teacher. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1868, he began to practice this profession in Wilkes-Barre. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1886 congressional election , Lynch was elected to the 12th constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Republican Joseph A. Scranton on March 4, 1887 . Since he was not confirmed in 1888, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1889 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Lynch initially worked as a lawyer again; between 1892 and 1910 he was an appeal judge. He died in Atlantic City on August 17, 1910 and was buried in Wilkes-Barre.
