John Mackenzie (director)

John Mackenzie (born May 22, 1928 in Edinburgh , Scotland , † June 8, 2011 in London , England ) was a British director .

Life

Mackenzie attended high school in Edinburgh and graduated in history from the university. His first acting ambitions led him to a small London stage. There he met the socialist director Ken Loach , where he was assistant director on the films Up the Junction and the famous Cathy Come Home . Later he also shot himself.
