John Meehan (screenwriter)
John Meehan (born May 8, 1890 in Lorraine, Ontario , Canada , † November 12, 1954 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter of Canadian descent.
Life
Shortly after his birth, John Meehan's family moved from Lorraine to Lindsay, Ontario. After graduating from high school, he moved to Austria, where he attended Heinrich von Gerkenstein School. He then moved to the United States and started working as a screenwriter in Hollywood. In his 20-year career he has written numerous scripts and plays.
John Meehan died on November 12, 1954 in Woodland Hills , a district of Los Angeles .
Awards
John Meehan was nominated twice for an Oscar for Best Screenplay , but failed to win it. In 1930 he was nominated for Die Frau für alle ( The Divorcee ), in 1939 for Teufelskerle ( Boys Town ).
