action

Wealthy and long-divorced fashion magazine editor, Louise Rayton Morgan fell faint, prompting her Dr. Cannon recommends a vacation on a ship without her three daughters Tess, Alix and Ilka. Morgan returns from this trip to Cuba with a new husband by her side, the famous pianist José Iturbi. Her three grown daughters cannot accept this as a new stepfather and do everything in their power to bring her mother back together with her ex-husband. Ultimately, however, the three girls accept their new stepfather - after there has been some turbulence - and befriend him.

criticism

A 1948 review by the New York Times described Iturbi's performance skills as shameless clowning, the plot was described as " silly little tale ", "excruciatingly schematic" ( schematically disquieting ) and "downright embarrassing in some of the romantic scenes" ( downright embarrassing in some of the stickier scenes ). However, the numerous musical sequences in the film were praised.

production

The production cost for the film was $ 2,538,000; it grossed $ 2,659,000 in the United States and $ 1,351,000 outside the United States.

For MacDonald this was the first film after a five-year hiatus. Your much younger appearance will be highlighted positively.
