John Moore (born 1924 in Tryon (North Carolina) as Sir John Drake Moore , died on 27. September 2006 in Lugano was) an American stage and costume designer in film , opera and theater , which for many years closely with his life partner Veniero Colasanti worked together.

Life

He studied at Oxford University and eventually moved to Rome.

Moore was nominated in 1962 - together with Colasanti - for an Oscar in the category Best Production Design for the film El Cid . He also furnished the films A Farewell to Arms , 55 Days at Beijing , The Fall of the Roman Empire and Nina - Just a Question of Time .

In 1968 he and his partner were invited by the Salzburg Festival to design the equipment for Emilio de 'Cavalieri's Rappresentatione di Anima, et di Corpo (1600); Jedermann followed in 1973 , and Der Rosenkavalier in 1978 . The rap presentations remained on the program of the Festival until 1973, and the Jedermann equipment could be seen every year until 1989. In total, he and his partner equipped over 100 operas, plays and ballets with costumes, or were responsible for their equipment.

Moore was also active as a writer, writing a novel about espionage and terror - From the Agency with Love .
