John Rogers (artist)

John Rogers (born October 3, 1829 in Salem , Massachusetts , † July 27, 1904 New Haven , Connecticut ) was an American artist and sculptor .

John Rogers is known for his plaster figures from the American Civil War . He stayed in Rome and Paris from 1858 to 1859 . His works were mostly arranged in groups, with which Rogers tried to create realistic images of his time.

In 1863, John Rogers was elected a member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design in New York .
