John Sturtevant

John Sturtevant (born April 28, 1913 in California , † May 10, 1974 ) was an American production designer .

Life

Sturtevant began his career on the film staff in 1945 as a production designer for William Beaudine's film drama False Shame . By the late 1940s he had worked on a dozen other films, including The Corpse Thief , The Woman on the Beach, and Rachel and the Stranger . Also in the 1960s he worked on numerous feature films such as Sex Kittens Go to College and Company Fire Belt . 1967 he worked for Robert Wise's adventure film The Sand Pebbles along with Boris Leven , Walter M. Scott and William Kiernan for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design nominated, but the award went this year to the science fiction film The Fantastic Trip .

He also worked for television, where he worked for two decades and mainly worked on series. From 1952 to 1959 and from 1967 to 1970 he worked on a total of 118 episodes of the crime series Police Report and between 1968 and 1975 on 102 episodes of the spin-off Adam-12 . His other works include the Hawaiian Eye , 77 Sunset Strip and The People of Shiloh Ranch series .
