Life

Frederik Pohl attributes a definition of science fiction to him as Rackham's Law , according to which science fiction is characterized by the application of a certain method - just as science is determined by the application of the scientific method - which, according to Pohl, consists of the Breaking reality down into its parts, replacing some of these parts with inventions, putting the whole thing back together and describing what could then happen.
