John Wilson (mathematician)
John Wilson (born August 6, 1741 in Applethwaite , Westmorland , † October 18, 1793 in Kendal , Westmorland) was a British mathematician and lawyer.
Wilson studied in Cambridge with Edward Waring and taught mathematics there from 1764 to 1766. Is named after him of Wilson's Theorem from number theory . In 1766 he began his legal career as a barrister . In 1783 he was elected a member of the Royal Society .
