John Yapp (born April 9, 1983 in Cardiff ) is a Welsh rugby union player . He plays as a pillar for the Welsh national team and the Cardiff Blues .
Yapp has played for Cardiff since 2002 and made his debut for the club against Ebbw Vale at the age of 18 . The following season he was accepted into the regional team and has been part of the Blues tribe ever since. In 2005 he played for the national team at the Six Nations against England , before he was part of the country's U19 and U21 selection.
Due to a serious knee injury in the 2006/07 season, he could not be considered for some time for the Blues and the Welsh national team. Under the new national coach Warren Gatland , he returned to the ranks of the team at the November 2008 international games and was also used at the Six Nations 2009 . In 2009 he won the EDF Energy Cup with the Blues .
