The Glamorgan Wanderers Rugby Football Club is a rugby union -Verein who in the Welsh Premier Division plays. The home games are played at the Memorial Ground in Cardiff .

history

The Glamorgan Wanderers were founded in 1893 under the name Old Monktonians. In 1913 the name was changed to the current one. Up until 1952 they played on seven different courts, until they stayed permanently in the Memorial Ground. The 1980s were the most successful era for the club, which managed to finish second in the Welsh championship once in that decade. In 1987 the Wanderers beat the national teams of the United States and Portugal . In the first season of the Welsh Premier Division, the Wanderers were part of the Welsh first division, but had to relegate and remained under class for years. In 2005, he was promoted back to the Premier Division.

Since 2003 the club has provided players for the Cardiff Blues , one of four Welsh teams in the multinational Magners League .
