Johnny Flynn (born March 14, 1983 in Johannesburg ) is a British singer and actor. He names William Shakespeare and WBYeats as influences . He is a member of the 'Propeller' theater group.

He released three albums with his band Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit . The debut album A Larum was released in summer 2008 and was recommended by music critic David Fricke in the music magazine Rolling Stone . After the EP Sweet William was released in winter 2009 , the second album Been Listening was released on the Transgressive Records label in summer 2010 . The single Kentucky Pill was mentioned by the British Zane Lowe's Radio 1 Show in March as "Hottest Record in the World". The third album Country Mile was released in 2013. On March 24, 2017 his fourth album Sillion was released .

Flynn wrote the series subject for the BBC British sitcom Detectorists .

Acting activity

Johnny Flynn has worked as an actor in several stage productions, including at the Globe Theater and the Royal Court . For his role in the play Jerusalem he was nominated for an Olivier Award in the category "Best Supporting Actor".

Flynn has become known to a wider audience as the lead actor in the series Lovesick , produced by Netflix and Channel 4 . He also played in the comedy series Brotherhood and in films such as The Clouds of Sils Maria . In Song One by Kate Barker-Froyland , he can be seen in the male lead alongside Anne Hathaway . In the TV series Genius (2017) he embodies Albert Einstein as a young man. In 2017 he also starred in the film Beast . In 2018, the British television series Vanity Fair, based on the novel of the same name by William Makepeace Thackeray, celebrated its premiere, with Flynn playing William Dobbin. 2020 is in the novel adaptation Flynn Emma by Jane Austen seen as George Knightley. Flynn wrote the song "Queen Bee", which plays during the credits . That same year, the David Bowie biography Stardust , in which he played the lead role as David Bowie, is slated to hit theaters.
