Johnny Roberts

John "Johnny" Roberts (born May 31, 1924 in Ashland , Indiana , † July 26, 1965 in Hanover , Pennsylvania ) was an American racing driver .

Career

Roberts began his career in midget car racing in Michigan in 1947, where he became a leading driver by 1959. He also sold conversion kits for midget racing cars. In 1953, he failed to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 on his only attempt .

His death is not clear. It is stated on various occasions that he had an accident in a racing accident in 1965, but his biography in the Michigan Motorsport Hall of Fame only reports on a serious accident in 1965, which he survived more or less slightly injured. He has resigned and is taking care of his son's career. There is also a YouTube video showing him in an accident in a NASCAR race in 1967.
