Johny Donald Thio (born September 2, 1944 in Roeselare , † August 4, 2008 in Hooglede ) was a Belgian football player .
Career
Thio's first clubs were FC Eendracht Hooglede and KFC Roeselare . From 1963 to 1975 he played for Club Bruges , with whom he won the Belgian championship as team captain in 1973 and the Belgian Cup in 1968 and 1970 .
Thio has made 293 appearances in Belgium's top division, the Jupiler League and 21 in the UEFA Cup . In the course of his career, he made 18 appearances for the Belgian national team and took part in the 1972 European Championship in his own country . Following his active career, he worked as a coach at SV Zottegem, SK Gullegem and FC Roeselare.
He died at the age of 63 of complications from a heart attack .
