The Joint Support and Enabling Command ( JSEC ) is a NATO support command in the Wilhelmsburg barracks in Ulm .

JSEC is responsible for the transport of troops and materials in the area of ​​responsibility of SACEUR when activated in the event of an alliance .

history

On February 14 and 15, 2018, the NATO defense ministers adopted a proposal to adapt the NATO command structure , which included the establishment of two new commands at the operational level . One of these commands is the JSEC. The proposal was approved at the NATO Defense Ministers meeting on June 7 and 8, 2018. The command was built up in several sub-steps. To this end, the military organization area Armed Forces Base and the Multinational Command Operative Management (MN KdoOpFü) of the Bundeswehr supported . In July 2018, a development team started its work and on September 17, 2019 the initial operational capability was achieved.

Commanders

The first commander of the JSEC is the German Lieutenant General Jürgen Knappe , in personal union commander of the MN KdoOpFü. The deputy commander of the JSEC is also the chief of staff of the MN KdoOpFü.
