Jonas Jučas

Jonas Jučas (born June 11, 1952 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian choir conductor and former liberal politician , from 2006 to 2008 Lithuania's minister of culture .

Life

Jučas studied at the Kaunas Music School . After graduation in 1970 at the Juozas Aleksonis -Mittelschule he studied from 1970 to 1972 at Kauno politechnikos institutas and from 1972 to 1976 at the Juozas Gruodis - Music School . In 1982 he graduated from Lietuvos valstybinė konservatorija . From 1977 he worked at the Lietuvos muzikos akademija in Kaunas and at the Klaipėdos universitetas . He founded Kaunas Jazz and was the festival's art director. Until 2004 he was a consultant for the Pažaislis music festival in Kaunas.

In 2000 he was a member of the Kaunas Municipality Council . In 2008 he was a Seimas candidate in Kalniečiai . From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Seimas, from 2006 to 2008 Minister of Culture. His successor was Remigijus Vilkaitis .

He was a member of the Liberalų ir centro sąjunga (LCS).
