Jonas Riškus
Jonas Riškus (born December 19, 1922 in Egėliškės , Šiauliai district ; † February 4, 2018 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian literary scholar and university professor .
Life
Jonas Riškus went to school in Auksučiai and Šiauliai . He graduated from the teacher training college in Telšiai and 1949 the Diploma in Lituanistik at Vilniaus pedagoginis institutas in Soviet Lithuania . On July 3, 1959, he defended the dissertation "Narrative in Soviet Lithuanian Literature" ( Apsakymas vaikams tarybinėje lietuvių literatūroje ). He wrote his doctoral thesis at Vilnius University . He was a lecturer at the Vilnius Pedagogical University (now the Lithuanian University of Education ). He began his teaching career as an assistant at the university. Riškus then became a lecturer, from 1961 to 1967 he was dean of the Faculty of Lithuanian Language and Literature. Then he taught as a professor .
Riškus researched the works of Kristijonas Donelaitis and Adomas Mickevičius .
His grave is in the Antakalnis cemetery .
