Jake Garber

Jake Garber (born April 16, 1965 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ) is an American makeup artist and special effects artist .

Life

Garber began his career on the film staff in 1989 with television, his first feature film was the horror film Dolly Dearest - The Brood of Satan . He subsequently worked in various professions, including as a puppeteer on Independence Day and Looney Tunes: Back in Action and as a special effects artist on Jumanji and Dogma . The main focus of his work, however, was make-up, where he received 90 film credits between 1991 and 2017 . In addition, he occasionally worked as a stuntman and extra .

Garber has worked under renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg , Tony Scott , Guillermo del Toro , Robert Zemeckis and Quentin Tarantino . With the latter in particular, he had a long-standing collaboration, between 2003 and 2015 he worked on six films directed by Tarantino, including Inglourious Basterds , Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight . He has also worked on Tarantino-produced films by other directors such as Robert Rodriguez , including Sometime in Mexico and Planet Terror . 1997 he was for Jonathan Frakes science fiction film Star Trek: First Contact with Michael Westmore and Scott Wheeler for the Oscar in the category Best Makeup and Best hairstyles nominated, but this year won the comedy The Nutty Professor . This should not be the only film from the Star Trek - Franchise stay, followed by Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis .

In addition to his film engagements, Garber also worked for television, including the television series 24 , The Walking Dead and Preacher .
