The Education Academy of the Vytautas Magnus University ( VDU ŠA for short, from Lithuanian: Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Švietimo akademija ) is a department of the Kaunasser Vytautas Magnus University , a former pedagogical university in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius .
history
The academy goes back to the National Pedagogical Institute founded in Klaipėda in 1935 . This moved to Vilnius during the Second World War and received a revision of the curriculum due to the Russian occupation and was renamed the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute . On July 2, 1992, the state was recognized as a university and the name was again changed to the name of the Educational University of Lithuania (Lithuanian Lietuvos edukologijos universitetas , LEU). The Vytautas Magnus University's Education Academy has existed since 2019.
In May 2013, 1094 people were employed. In 2015, a total of 3964 students were studying. In 2017 there were 675 graduates with academic degrees (487 Bachelor's and 188 Magister's), a further 35 people received the qualification of educators and four people received doctorates.
In 2019 the LEU university was reorganized.
The university had three student residences (in Naujamiestis and Saltoniškės ), the Kurhaus "Vorupė" in the westlitauischen resort town Palanga on the Baltic Sea and the "RASE" spa in the village Lakaja in which švenčionys district municipality , Upper Lithuania .
