Jonathan & Charlotte were a classic pop duo that became famous in 2012 for the sixth season of Britain's Got Talent .

history

17-year-old Jonathan Antoine and 16-year-old Charlotte Jaconelli applied for the casting show Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 . Both attended the same school in Chigwell, northeast London, and had been brought together by a music teacher who had suggested that they sing together for their final exams. After that, a teacher asked them to sing at their wedding and came up with the idea of participating in the casting show.

Antoine has had a weight disorder since he was four years old. As a result, he also had psychological problems and a nervous breakdown three months before the first appearance. When auditioning before the jury, however, he impressed with his strong tenor voice in harmony with the voice of Jaconelli. While he prefers opera music, she comes from the musical field. They sang The Prayer , a duet by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli .

Since with Paul Potts and Susan Boyle two performers of classical music had already won the talent show, the duo was one of the favorites to win. They survived the auditions and they clearly won their semifinals with 75% of the audience votes. In the final, however, they had to admit defeat to Ashleigh and Pudsey , a number with a trained, dancing dog.

Juror Simon Cowell signed Jonathan & Charlotte to his label and a few months after the finale, the album Together was released . It debuted at number 5 on the UK charts and was awarded gold for 100,000 copies sold . With their classically arranged pop songs, they put together the second album Perhaps Love just a year later . For the second time they came in 5th place and this time they achieved silver status.

When working on a third album, however, due to their different preferences, they could not agree on a song selection and so they decided to end the collaboration and record solo albums. On Mother's Day 2014 they finally released a joint recording of Time to Say Goodbye . In the same year both released their own albums and thus also hit the charts.
