Jury and moderation
On September 20, 2011, it was reported that Michael McIntyre would not be returning as a juror. On November 29, 2011, David Hasselhoff also said that he was not part of the jury in 2012. In December 2011 it was announced that Simon Cowell would return as a judge. On January 2, 2012, it was announced that singer Alesha Dixon and comedian David Walliams would debut as jurors. Amanda Holden , who has been on the jury since season one, missed auditions in Blackpool , Cardiff and London as she gave birth to her daughter around that time. She was replaced by Carmen Electra . After recovering from childbirth, she returned to Britain's Got Talent. As in previous years, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly took over the moderation .

Moderation
concept
People of all ages can take part in the show. People can appear individually or in a group. The candidates appear in front of the jury and the audience with a program of their choice, such as singing or a dance performance. The judges can operate a red buzzer during the performance to indicate that they do not like the performance. If all jurors have activated the buzzer, the candidate must stop his presentation. At the end of the performance, the jurors rate the candidate with a “Yes” or “No”. If the candidate has received a yes from at least two of the jurors, he may appear again in the next round. At the beginning of the show there are recorded auditions in which the jurors decide on the progress of the candidates. In the last episode before the live shows it will be announced which acts have qualified for the semifinals. Later the viewer can vote on the qualifiers for the final, which takes place on the Sunday of the same week, in live broadcasts, which are broadcast from Monday to Friday. Here the audience can determine the winner of the show. The winner of the show will receive £ 500,000 in prize money and will be allowed to appear in the Royal Variety Performance .
Auditions
This year there were three different ways to apply for the show.
Producer auditions
Candidates who applied online were invited to the so-called producer auditions . They could perform in front of the producers of the competition and thus qualify for the judges' auditions .
Open auditions
In the Open Audition , which took place in London on January 22nd, 2012 , applicants had the opportunity to appear in front of a jury that is not that of the actual show and thus qualify for the Judges' Auditions .
Video auditions
Between January 6th and 22nd, 2012 you had the opportunity to upload a video to YouTube . Viewers were able to choose their five favorites online from 25 applicants selected by the show's producers. The candidates with the most votes were able to qualify for the Judges' Auditions . The group that received the most votes was The TestostaTones . They appeared before the jury in January but did not qualify for the next round.
Judges' auditions

Controversy
Beatrix of Bourbon
In the second episode on March 31, 2012, the audition of the burlesque dancer was broadcast. During her performance, she undressed except for a corset and pasties . Cowell compared her to Dita Von Teese and referred to Von Bourbon as her British version. Although her breasts were censored, the UK media regulator , the Office of Communications ( Ofcom ), received more than 70 letters of complaint about the dancer's performance because it was broadcast before 9 p.m. and posed a danger to children. A person in charge of the agency said that the performance was edited so that it would be suitable for television, but they will still be investigated. However, on July 23, 2012, Ofcom reported that Independent Television , the broadcaster, had done nothing wrong.
Ryan O'Shaughnessy
On April 17, 2012, it was reported that singer Ryan O'Shaughnessy was disqualified from the show for having already signed a recording deal with Universal Music for having applied for the talent show The Voice of Ireland alongside Britain's Got Talent . This was confirmed in the episode on May 5, 2012. After 44 acts told if they qualified for the semi-finals, O'Shaughnessy was the one left. Simon Cowell confronted the singer with the problem and said: “We have a bit of a problem, and I think you know what that problem is, don't you? You're on another show which you're signed up to. You signed a contract with another company so why did you come and audition for this show? "( German : We have a little problem and you know which one it is, don't you? You are still under contract to another show. You are a contract entered into with another company, so why did you come here and apply for this show? ). The singer replied that writing songs was his passion and that he couldn't practice it on the other casting show, which is why he applied for Britain's Got Talent . After this episode aired, O'Shaughnessy got out of The Voice of Ireland and canceled his contract with Universal Music . As a result, he was able to qualify for the semifinals of the show.
