Waterproof beach pasties

Pasties ( singular pasty , usually used in the plural ) is the name for small sequins , stickers or pieces of fabric that are used to cover the nipples or the genital area . The name is derived from the property of sticking to the skin by itself ( English to paste 'sticking'). Material and size can vary, but they cover at least the areola or the labia . Some nipple pasties are decorated with a tassel .

Nipple shields and nipple piercings have a similar function .

use

The underlying concept of the pasties is to achieve the highest possible level of nudity while at the same time maintaining a minimum level of clothing . The reason for this is, on the one hand, to maintain the erotic charm of the veiling, while at the same time a lot of body can be shown. This happens mainly in the context of burlesque , variety shows or parties.

On the other hand, public nudity is restricted or prohibited by law in some countries. For example, in many English-speaking countries , nude bathing is not permitted or restricted to designated beach areas. There is also often a social stigma for showing (especially female ) nipples in public or in the public media . Pasties can make it possible to be almost nudist without exceeding legal limits or social taboos .

variants

A comparable concept is that of the microkinis . In contrast to the pasties, the pieces of fabric are connected to one another by cords, similar to a bikini .
