Caruso is a song by the Italian musician Lucio Dalla . It is a homage to the tenor Enrico Caruso . The song was published in 1986 has since been numerous musicians gecovert .

"Te voglio bene assaje, ma tanto tanto bene sai, è una catena ormai, che scioglie il sangue dint '' e 'vvene sai."
In an interview, Dalla explained the background to the song. He was forced to stop in Sorrento and stay in a hotel there. He learned that he was in the same room in which the tenor Enrico Caruso had lived for some time shortly before his death. In the song he describes in Italian and Neapolitan the difficult and unhappy life of his compatriot. The refrain begins with “Te voglio bene assaje”, which can be translated as “I love you so much” or “I love you so much”.
