Jordan Michael Slew (born September 7, 1992 in Sheffield ) is an English football player . He is currently under contract with Blackburn Rovers . He is usually used as a striker .

Career

Sheffield United

Slew was trained at Sheffield United Football Academy in his hometown. For the second division , he completed his first competitive game in October 2010 in a 0-1 win against Watford FC . Immediately afterwards, he signed his first professional contract with the Blades , which would tie him to the club until the end of the 2011/12 season. After further appearances as a substitute, he scored his first goal in the league when he made his debut. In order to tie the young striker to the club in the long term, Slew was persuaded to renew his contract in the summer of 2011.

Blackburn Rovers

Although he had only renewed his contract in Sheffield a few weeks earlier, he was signed by first division club Blackburn Rovers on the last day of the summer transfer period. Additionally, upon his contract renewal in Sheffield, Slew said:

“This is my hometown and where I want to continue my development. The aim now is to play as many games and score as many goals as possible. "

“This (Sheffield) is my hometown where I want to develop further. My goal now is to play as many games as possible and score as many goals as possible. "

This statement caused additional criticism of his transfer in retrospect. In Blackburn he signed a four-year contract.

Slew made his league debut on December 31, 2011 in a 3-2 away win against Manchester United . In the following years he could not prevail at the Rovers and was awarded to the third division FC Stevenage in March 2012 in order to give him match practice . There he played nine games by the end of the season and only just missed promotion with the team, while his home club was relegated from the Premier League.

In August 2012, the club announced another loan deal with Slew. He was awarded for half a year to the third division club Oldham Athletic . However, Slew had to return to Blackburn for treatment several times in the first month because of a back injury.

National team

Slew is part of the England U-19 team . He made his debut in the 1-0 home defeat in a friendly against Germany .
