Jordanita vartianae is a butterfly fromthe ram family (Zygaenidae).
features
The moths reach a forewing length of 13.7 to 14.7 millimeters in the males and 9 to 9.5 millimeters in the females. The head, thorax and legs have a strong metallic sheen. The abdomen is dark green and has a semi-metallic shimmer. The feelers consist of about 38 segments. The forewing upper side is dark green and shimmers semi-metallic. The underside of the forewing and the fringed scales are gray. The upper and lower side of the hind wings are gray like the fringed scales.
In the males the uncus is heavily sclerotized and 3/4 as long as the tegumen. In the valves, the sacculus has heavily sclerotic spines, which are about as long as the uncus. Ventrally , the spines are concave at the tip. The aedeagus is twice as long as the uncus. On the bladder there is a severely sclerotized cornutus with a sharp tip. The 8th abdominal sternite does not reach the posterior margin of the segment.
In females, the ostium is wide and funnel-shaped, the edges do not protrude. The antrum is also broad and sclerotized like a funnel. The distal part of the ductus bursae is S-shaped and narrow. The corpus bursae is egg-shaped.
Similar species
J. vartianae occurs sympatric with Jordanita globulariae , Jordanita notata , Jordanita subsolana and Jordanita hispanica . The similar species all have a similar habitus and pointed antennae. The distinction is genital morphologically possible.

Jordanita vartianae is endemic to southern and central Spain .
