Jorge Marcelo Rodríguez , full name Jorge Marcelo Rodríguez Núñez , (born January 13, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The Japo called linksfüßige midfielder began his career in his hometown of Montevideo in racing in 2003 in the Segunda División , where he came in his debut year in eight scoreless inserts, and played there until 2004. He then moved in 2005 within the city to Fénix , returned but returned to his previous club in 2006. After that, he probably played for Club Sportivo Cerrito , at least his own website shows such an - albeit undated - career station that is classified by other sources in this time window. In turn, other sources place a time at Nacional Montevideo in 2006 , which he does not mention on his website. From 2007 he was then in ranks of River Plate Montevideo . There he made eight appearances (two goals) at the Copa Sudamericana in 2008 and 2009 . In the 2009/10 season, Rodríguez recorded 26 first division games with the Montevideans, in which he hit the opposing goal seven times. In 2010 he moved to Mexico and made his debut there on July 24, 2010 with his new club Jaguares de Chiapas . For the Mexicans, he completed 103 league games in which he scored 17 goals. He also made nine appearances in the 2011 Copa Libertadores (1 goal). For the 2013/14 season he moved to the reigning Uruguayan champions Club Atlético Peñarol . He made his league debut with the Aurinegros on August 17, 2013 in the 2-4 defeat at the start of the season against River Plate Montevideo. He was also responsible as a goal scorer for the 1: 2 interim result. In total, he played 25 games (four goals) in the Primera División, two matches (no goal) in the Copa Sudamericana 2013 and five appearances (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2014 . In the 2014/15 season he was used in 30 first division games (five goals) and six games (one goal) of the 2014 Copa Sudamericana . In July 2015, he initially joined the Argentina-based CA Tigre for one season . There he played 23 league games and scored three goals. He also ran twice (no goal) in the Copa Argentina . At the beginning of January 2017, the Club Atlético Cerro signed him .
National team
Rodríguez was part of the 2005 Uruguayan U-20 selection that took part in the 2005 U-20 South American Championship in Colombia . He made his debut in the Uruguayan senior team on August 20, 2008 in the friendly against Japan, when he came on in the 84th minute for Luis Suárez . His first of just two starting XI appearances in his international career dates back to October 20, 2009, when he started playing for his fourth international match in the World Cup qualifying against Ecuador. In total, Rodríguez completed seven senior internationals in a 3-1 away win against Switzerland until his last appearance on March 3, 2010. He remained without his own goal.
Others
On September 29, 2013, according to the police, Japo Rodríguez caused an accident on the Rambla with his Chevrolet Captiva in a clearly intoxicated state , in which, however, he was only slightly injured.
