Jorge Mistral

Jorge Mistral (actually Modesto Llosas Rosell , born November 24, 1920 in Aldaya , Valencia Province , † April 20, 1972 in Mexico City ) was a Spanish actor and film director .

Life

Mistral spent his childhood in Puerto Rico , his father's homeland; at the age of 14 he returned to his native country. Initially he pursued a career as a lawyer, which he broke off due to the Spanish Civil War . After that, he began a stage career and quickly got film roles; his first in 1944 in La llamada de la mar . He was under contract for a while with the production company CIFESA and undertook a tour of Latin America in 1949, with particular success in Mexico , where he was to shoot numerous films over the next few years. In 1964 he went back to Puerto Rico, where he directed three films and appeared for television . Later he changed the center of his life again and spent the last years of his life before his suicide in Mexico, where, in addition to films and television roles, he also performed theater performances and engagements in variety shows .
