Jorge Stever

Jorge Stever (born August 9, 1940 in Templin near Neubrandenburg ; † October 24, 2019 in Caracas , Venezuela ) was a German-South American contemporary painter and object artist , also known for his minimalist and constructivist compositions.

life and work

Jorge B. Stever began with the first constructivist work under the direct influence of Mathias Goeritz . From 1955 he lived in Mexico , among other places , and from 1955 to 1966 undertook extensive study trips to England , Germany , France , Spain , Italy and Turkey . From 1966 to 1969 he lived first in Malta , then in Cologne , until he finally emigrated to Caracas in 1973 .

Stever had his first solo exhibition in 1963 at the Ibero Club in Bonn . In 1966 he created an environment for the Scheidt company in Kettwig .

Jorge Stever, as a representative of abstract hyperrealism with some objects made of oil paint and wood, took part in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the Realism department . To this day he is represented at numerous exhibitions worldwide, especially in South America, with various works: paintings, objects, installations and reliefs .
