José Antonio Rodríguez Duvergé (born July 20, 1954 in La Romana ) is a Dominican singer, composer and politician.

Rodríguez performed with various groups in nightclubs in the 1970s, including the Onda 73 , Los Paymasi and El Grupo Módulo . In 1984 he won first prize at the Festival de la Canción the Asociación de la Republica Dominicana de Músicos and 1986 with the song Para quererte first prize at the Festival Internacional de Viñas del Mar . In his career he has performed with musicians such as Mercedes Sosa , Sergio Vargas , Víctor Víctor , Silvio Rodríguez , Danny Rivera , Pablo Milanés and Charles Aznavour . He has composed for singers like Fernando Villalona and Maridalia Hernández and has released several albums of his own.

From 2012 to 2016 he was Minister of Culture of the Dominican Republic, after which he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic to UNESCO. He founded the Retajila Foundation , which supports young songwriters with the recording and production of their first album, and with his wife, the dancer Monika Despradel , the Nest for Angels Foundation , which deals with problems related to children with cerebral palsy.
