José Carvalho (athlete)

José de Jesus Carvalho (born June 15, 1953 in Porto ) is a former Portuguese hurdler , sprinter and decathlete .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eliminated from the 400 m hurdles and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run.

In 1974 he did not get past the first round at the European Athletics Championships in Rome over 400 m hurdles .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was fifth over 400 m hurdles and failed over 400 m in the run.

At the EC 1978 in Prague he was eliminated over 400 m hurdles and at the EC 1982 in Athens over 400 m and 400 m hurdles in each case in the preliminary run.

Seven times he was Portuguese champion over 110 m hurdles (1973, 1974, 1977–1980, 1982) and 400 m hurdles (1972–1974, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1985), five times over 400 m (1975, 1976, 1979, 1981, 1983), twice in the decathlon (1974, 1976) and once over 200 m (1972).
