José Gonçalves Martins Patrício

José Gonçalves Martins Patrício (born March 9, 1954 in Luanda ) is an Angolan manager and former diplomat .

Life

From 1974 to 1989 he was government spokesman, headed the editorial team of Rádio Nacional de Angola and was union secretary of the União dos Jornalistas Angolanos (UJA). From 1989 to 1992 he was Minister of Information. From 1990 to 1991 he was part of the negotiating delegation of the Bicesse Accords , which were signed in May 1991. From December 1991 he was ambassador to the Organization of American States . One of his diplomatic accomplishments is that the Clinton cabinet recognized the administration of Marcolino Moco on May 19, 1993. From December 11, 1993 to 1995 he was Ambassador to the United States . On July 11, 1995, he was appointed Ambassador to Lisbon , where he was accredited from September 1995 to November 1999. From 2000 to May 1, 2001 he represented the Angolan government at the UN headquarters .

On May 1, 2001, he was hired by BP Sunbury-on-Thames as Executive Vice-President of BP Angola. BP Angola employs 600 people. BP Angola has supply contracts with the production companies in the four Angolan deepwater blocks 15, 12, 18, and 31. In the 1990s, 17 blocks were granted mineral oil production licenses for lake basins upstream of the Congo (river) and the Cuanza , and drilling in up to 1.5 km water depth.

Patrício is also president of the Petro Huambo football club .
