José Llopis Corona

José Llopis Corona (born June 4, 1918 in Alicante , † January 29, 2011 ibid) was a Spanish football player .

Athletic career

Corona started playing football at smaller clubs in Alicante. There he made his adult debut for Gimnástico Carolinas , when national game operations resumed after the civil war in 1939, he ran for the then second division club FC Alicante in the Segunda División . While the club could not hold the class, he had drawn higher class attention and in 1941 joined local rivals Hércules Alicante in the Primera División . Also with this he was relegated, but stayed in the second division for one more season.

In 1943 Corona moved to Real Madrid , where he was a regular in the club's defensive line for the next five years. Corona died in January 2011 at the age of 92 in his hometown Alicante.
