José Luis López Mejía (born August 12, 1955 in Huentitlán el Alto, near Guadalajara , Jalisco ), also known by the nickname Pareja , is a former Mexican football player who mostly played in the attacking midfield . He is the father of the football player José Luis López Monroy .
career
López Mejía received his first professional contract at the age of 17 with the UNAM Pumas and quickly developed into a goal-scoring regular player. In his first season in 1972/73 , the midfielder scored six goals and increased to nine goals in the coming 1973/74 season .
In the seasons 1976/77 and 1980/81 López won the Mexican football championship twice with the Pumas . He also won the cup competition and the Supercup in 1975, as well as the CONCACAF Champions' Cup twice (1980 and 1982) and once (1981) the Copa Interamericana in the early 1980s .
Between 1981 and 1985 López was under contract with Tampico-Madero FC and the next three years with Club Necaxa . He then let his active career with the Cobras Ciudad Juárez end.
