José Ricardo Arnulfo Montiel Nuñez (born March 19, 1988 in Itauguá , Paraguay ) is a Paraguayan football player .

Career
society
The midfielder began his career in the youth team of Olimpia de Itá , a club that serves as a "feeder club" for Olimpia Asunción . The talent scouts soon noticed him and he was brought to his home club at the age of 16. The Italian first division club Udinese Calcio recognized his talent and signed him from the 2006/07 season. From 2007 to 2012 he was under contract with league competitor Reggina Calcio , where he only made 21 league appearances in four seasons and was loaned to the Romanian club Politehnica Iași and the Argentine CA Tigre . From the 2009 season, Reggina Calcio played in the second Italian division . In 2012 he moved to Benevento Calcio , which at that time was still playing a league below. Here it was used more often in two years. In 2014 he returned to Paraguay, where he played for his first professional club Olimpia Asunción for the next two years and then at local rivals Club Nacional . From 2016 to 2018 he played for various Peruvian first division clubs , interrupted by a brief engagement with the Qatari al-Shamal SC . In 2018 he returned to Europe for the Greek second division team Panachaiki GE . Since 2020 he has been under contract with Club 12 de Octubre from his hometown Itauguá.
National team
In 2004 he became a member of the U-15 youth team that won the South American Cup. A year later he made his debut for the senior team in the international against Venezuela.
At the age of 17, he was the second youngest player in the tournament after Theo Walcott of the Paraguayan national team at the 2006 World Cup . But although he was considered a great talent in his country at the time, he was not used. Even after the World Cup, Montiel only played four more friendly matches for Paraguay. After his ninth international match in 2008, his career in the national team ended at the age of just 20.
