Career

Rivera, who started for the Esqui Super Molina club , made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup on December 30, 1981 at the opening event for the Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 in Oberstdorf . From the beginning, however, he was unsuccessful in the highest competitive series. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 he jumped to 58th place on the normal and 55th place on the large hill. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , which were also considered the Nordic World Ski Championships , Rivera started from both hills. From the normal hill he reached the 54th place with jumps on 72.5 and 72 meters. When jumping from the large hill, he jumped 84 and 76 meters and came in 48th place in the end. In both competitions he was the best participant in his country. Even in the World Cup competitions after the Olympic Games, Rivera remained consistently unsuccessful and only achieved lower placements without winning points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 in Seefeld in Tyrol he reached 49th place on the normal hill and 55th place on the large hill. After another unsuccessful participation in the Four Hills Tournament 1985/86 , he ended his active ski jumping career.
