José Santos Iztueta Mendizábal

José Ramón Santos Iztueta Mendizábal CP (born April 3, 1929 from Donostia-San Sebastián , Gipuzkoa , Spain ; † August 27, 2007 ) was the prelate of the Moyobamba Territorial Prelature .

Life

Iztueta Mendizábal joined the Order of the Passionists (CP) and was ordained a priest on April 25, 1951. He was Provincial of the Order in Spain from 1973 to 1977 and 1994 to 1998; from 1976 to 1988 he was the general representative of the Passionists in Rome.

In 1998 John Paul II appointed him coadjutor prelate of the Moyobamba territorial prelature in Peru, a spin-off from the diocese of Chachapoyas in 1948. He was ordained bishop on July 3, 1998 Ángel Cardinal Suquía Goicoechea . On June 9, 2000, he was appointed prelate to succeed Venancio Celestino Orbe Uriarte . 2007 was his resignation from Benedict XVI. granted; his successor is Rafael Alfonso Escudero López-Brea .
