The territorial prelate moyobamba ( lat. : Territorialis Praelatura Moyobambensis ) is an in Peru preferred Roman Catholic territorial prelate based in Moyobamba .
history
A forerunner of the territorial prelature Moyobamba, on whose tradition it is based, was the diocese of Maynas , which had its seat in Moyobamba from 1812 to 1843.
The territorial prelature Moyobamba was established on March 7, 1948 from the cession of territory by the Diocese of Chachapoyas and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Trujillo as a suffragan .

cathedral
The Santiago Apóstol Cathedral was destroyed in a severe earthquake on May 29, 1990, only the funerary chapel for Martin Fulgencio Elorza Legaristi remained. The new cathedral, built in the same place according to plans by the architect Jhonny Montalván Silva, was consecrated on November 26, 2011.
