José de Jesús Godínez Navarro (born January 20, 1997 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a Mexican football player on the position of a striker .

career

Godínez began his career in the youth division of his home club Club Deportivo Guadalajara , for whose various youth teams he worked between 2012 and 2017. In the Clausura 2017 he was used for the first time on May 6, 2017 in a league game of the first team (0-0 at Club Necaxa ). Because his club won the Mexican football championship in the same season , Godínez was part of the squad of the championship team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara through this brief assignment .

For the next 2017/18 season, Chivas coach Matías Almeyda brought him to the first team more often and Godínez came to a 90-minute appearance in the Copa México . In Apertura 2017 Godínez came to a total of six short appearances, in which he scored his first goal in the top Mexican division in a home game against the UNAM Pumas on September 16, 2017, with which he also gave his team a 1-1 win.

Godínez also scored an important goal in the quarter-final second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League against the Seattle Sounders . After the first leg was lost 0-1 and his team only led 2-0 in front of their own audience (a goal from the guests to 2-1 would have meant elimination due to the away goals rule ), Godínez scored with his goal in the 80th minute 3-0 for the preliminary decision and the final score.
