Josane Sigart (born January 7, 1909 in Brussels , † August 20, 1999 married Jean De Meulemeester from Bruges) was a Belgian tennis player . She played for the Royal Léopold Club . She was married to John (Jean) De Meulemeester. In 2001, together with her husband and other members of the De Meulemeester family, she was awarded the honorary title Righteous Among the Nations .

successes

After Sigart had become Belgian doubles champion with Francine Isaac in 1931, she won the women's doubles against Elizabeth Ryan and Helen Jacobs the following year at Wimbledon together with the French Doris Metaxa in their second finals . In 1933 she reached the final there again, this time in a mixed with Harry Hopman . In the same year she failed there in the women's singles in the second round. Sigart was Belgian individual champion in 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932 and 1936.
