Josef Arthold

Josef Arthold (born April 9, 1934 in Hausbrunn ; † July 30, 2002 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and vocational school director. Between 1986 and 1994 he was a member of the National Council .

education and profession

Arthold was born as the eldest of three sons in a long-established farming family. After completing compulsory school, he attended the teacher training institute of the school brothers in Strebersdorf and then worked from 1953 and 1956 as a teacher at the primary school of the Archdiocese of Vienna. Arthold then worked as a teacher at various industrial and commercial vocational schools until 1968. In addition, Arthold worked as a pedagogical supervisor at the City School Council for Vienna from 1956 to 1961 and was appointed director of a commercial vocational school for wholesale in Vienna in 1968.

politics

Arthold was involved in the teachers' representation and was regional chairman of the ÖAAB vocational school teachers in Vienna from 1964 to 1972. In addition, from 1968 to 1972 he held the post of leader of the Christian trade unionist group for vocational school teachers in Austria. In addition, Arthold was regional chairman of the ÖAAB Vienna from 1985 and was elected district chairman of the ÖVP favorites in 1973. He represented the ÖVP between 1971 and 1986 in the Vienna state parliament and municipal council, and from 1983 was chairman there. In addition, from 1983 Arthold was regional party chairman of the ÖVP Vienna.

Between December 17, 1986 and November 4, 1990 and between December 18, 1990 and November 6, 1994 Arthold represented the ÖVP in the National Council. His political priorities included the environment, youth and sport. Arthold also founded Union Süd Wien and was a functionary of Wiener Austria for decades .
